Call for Editor Applications:
International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology
Deadline November 1, 2024
Sage announces the search for a new Editor of our journal, International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology. We are currently accepting editor applications for a three-year term commencing January 1, 2025.
For more than five decades, International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology has provided therapists, counselors, researchers, forensic psychologists and psychiatrists, criminologists, and policy makers with challenging research on topics including violent crime, sexual offending, domestic violence, juvenile delinquency, criminal profiling, and risk assessment from an international perspective. Our emphasis is on the treatment of the offender, both as it relates to theory and for clinical practice. This journal is peer-reviewed and published monthly.
The Editor will be responsible for soliciting, reviewing, and making final decisions on submissions to the journal, and will manage all aspects of the publication and review process using the ScholarOne electronic submission and review platform. The Editor is expected to maintain timely and effective communication, advance journal performance, delegate review of manuscripts, and work towards upholding its high-quality standard.
Applicants should have a scholarly record in criminology and penology, a strong international and inclusive outlook, and experience in academic leadership roles. Applicants should also possess strong organizational and management skills, the ability to work well with others, and a commitment to Sage’s mission: believing passionately that engaged scholarship lies at the heart of any healthy society and that education is intrinsically valuable.
Sage provides International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology with peer review and publishing support, but the institution that hosts the journal will also be expected to provide support for the editor and journal office. Your application should indicate the expected level of institutional support, which might come in the form of additional faculty release time, travel funds, summer salary, office space, utilities, and use of computers and other office equipment, support for assistant or managing editors, student workers, and/or other basic expenses.
Applicants should send a letter of application which includes their vision for the future of the journal and a description of their qualifications for the editorship. Applicants should also include copies of their CV and documentation indicating prospective institutional support.
Applications, nominations, and requests for additional information should be sent electronically to Vi La Bianca, Publishing Editor, at vi.labianca@sagepub.com. Please put “IJOTCC Editor Application” in the subject line of your email.
