ASC Division of Health and Disability Criminology (DHDC)

The Division of Health and Disability Criminology seeks to provide an intellectual home and collaborative space for scientists, practitioners, and system-impacted persons, as well as advocates interested in the study of health (individual, public, and/or community) or disability (i.e., any condition of the body or mind that makes it more difficult for the person with the condition to do certain activities and interact with the world around them – CDC) related to criminology and criminal justice. Our intent is to create a forum for the creation and dissemination of scientific knowledge around the multiplex roles of health and disability in criminology and criminal justice. Lastly, in addition to serving as an intellectual home for current ASC members, we also aim to attract members in adjacent fields of social science, public health, gerontology, health and/or disability studies into the division as we are inherently interdisciplinary and intersectional.
